ronan lecreurer invites designer mayeul reignault to conceive a collaborative work.
the project vie silencieuse, developed jointly, arises from their shared interest in packaging in all its forms, sixteenth-century striated gloves, mountaineers’ furniture, and still life painting.

their work focuses on the idea of suggested still lifes. by extending the function of the ghost’s sheet—the same fabric used to cover furniture in a house that is being closed—they chose to develop a series of scenes, or object situations, and to create covers for them. the objects themselves disappear; only the composition suggests what was occurring at the moment the scene was abandoned.

for the exhibition ex-aequo, the cover produced refers to a laconic situation: a table on which a single half-filled glass would rest.
these ghostly scenes are evoked through a white, translucent, finely woven fabric that makes the complete absence of any object inside perceptible. what emerges instead are the contrasts created by overlapping layers, shaped by folds and seams that recall familiar objects.
